What are the stoves made from?

The Kedco Trend, Rose and Ecoidro pellet stoves are made of cast iron with ceramic tiles for decorative purposes.The Kedco Harman is made of cast iron.

Is there a chimney and flue required?

Yes, the wood pellet stoves must be attached to direct the flue gases up the chimney. All external flues must be standard twin wall flues.

Does my stove have to be in a special position?

The stove must be placed either in front of an existing chimney or at a gable end wall, so that the flue has access to the exterior of the house.

What do I need to install one of the stoves?

For the Kedco Harmen, Trend & Rose stoves you simply need a flue and electric power point. For the Kedco Ecoidro you need the same but as its attached to a back boiler it will have to be plumbed into the household plumbing system. An air vent must be present in the room where the stove is positioned, alternatively, the air inlet pipe can be extended through a wall to the exterior.

How much maintenance is involved?

All systems require a daily clean and will have to be serviced yearly by a Kedco agent.

Is there a warranty with the stoves?

What is the main advantage of a pellet stove over a wood burning stove?

Independence. A pellet stove can operate for several hours without reloading. It may be programmed to come on and turn off, and may be controlled remotely by telephone.

Can I use any other fuels in pellet stoves (wood, organic waste, etc)?

No, anything burnt other than pellets may damage the operation of the stove.

Do I always have to use the same type of pellet?

It is advisable so that the settings remain correct. Since pellets are highly variable, in certain cases the stove settings would need changing.

In the case of pellet stoves, do I need to have the parameters set and first ignition carried out by an expert technician?

It is highly advisable for correct operation. Contact us and we will advise you of the best course of action.

 What routine maintenance should be carried out on a pellet stove?

As advised in the technical specifications, which you are recommended to read carefully, you should:

  • Clean every day (for a few minutes when the stove is cold) by vacuuming the combustion chamber; also vacuum the hole in the combustion chamber where the superheated air enters

  • Empty the ash pan if necessary

  • When the stove is not used, have special maintenance / cleaning carried out.
