Renewable energy grants for ROI

SEI, formerly the Irish Energy Center was set up in the year 2002 as Ireland's national energy agency. Their mission is to promote & assist the development of sustainable energy. The provisions made in the 2008 budget further reiterated the Irish Governments commitment to the promotion of renewable energy technologies by increasing the planned spend in this area by 20 million euro between now and the end of 2009. Already this year 65 million euro has being committed for this period.

The Irish Government through Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) have started a number of grant schemes aimed at promoting energy use. The 'Greener Homes' scheme assists people with the purchase of renewable energy heating systems . The government believes that this will help ensure a faster uptake of renewable heating systems which will underpin the development a long term market, whilst enabling homeowners to play their part in reducing carbon dioxide emissions .
